Dallas, Texas

This morning Dave ran (yes literally ran) to Home Depot and got supplies to hang the new flat screen TV.  After his return we worked on it till 2 p.m. and finally got it hung.  Good Job Dave!  After we left the camp ground we drove through Dallas.  We went by the by spot where President JFK was assassinated.  We saw the window on the 6Th floor where Lee Harvey Oswald sat and fired that fatal shot.  We also saw the 2 X's on the ground which mark the 2 spots where JFK was hit.  JFK was shot 7 years before I was born, but I could still feel a swell in my throat when I drove on the same road that ended the life of  our 35 Th President.  It was such a devastating thing to happen to such a great man.
We are now staying at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
.  We drove in at night so could not see the whole campground, but it looks really great.
Thought of the day:  Patience is definitely a gift from God, but you have to ask for it
to get it.   It's much harder to use than to lose, and once it is lost it is hard to find. Patience is also easier to use if you have practiced it.  You would think that in a small space things would be easier to find but patience is much harder!  I guess what I am trying to say is that I have asked for God to grant me the gift of Patience because I keep seeming to lose mine.

Hey Cindi,
Just wanted to tell you that I know exactly what you meant with the emotions and feeling you had standing on this corner. I had the pleasure of being in the same location with Merina a couple years ago when we were in Texas for a cheer competition with her middle school. It was an experience I will never forget. Not only because there are so many amazing sites and a place with so much history, but because I had the opportunity to experience it with Merina. I am not sure she understood the historical aspect standing at site of Kenedy's death, but I think she will always remember the trip and that museum was a huge part of that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the pictures of Saturday's events as it brought back some really special memories of my trip to Texas! Also, I might add, some of your other shots in Texas like the San Antino, River Walk, brought back some funny and well not so fun memories. 18 years ago (now, that makes me sound ancient) I spent more time than I would like to remember in that part of Texas while in basic training and tech school. Many long months that seemed never ending were spent in that city! lol... In fact, dad and mom came and visited me right there at that river walk while I was in tech school and sadly enough, I walked that mall in full uniform with that little "boat" hat I had to wear and big, black, bulky shoes that were the ugliest things you ever saw! Can you imagine? Looking back, I wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit although I can say, I am pretty proud to have worn it! Just amazing how time flys by and how pictures of a place can bring you right back as if it were yesterday! This was a time in life for me, I couldn't wait to pass by as it seemed as if it would never end. But looking back, it is just a blink of an eye as time just keeps on ticking. Funny, as I wouldn't want to do it all over again, but I don't regret doing it for a second and am pretty proud I made the decision to dedicate those years to the miltary. Anyways, Texas is a neat place. Would love to be there with you. I think this time I would wear something really cute and not that ugly uniform. Although, who am I kidding, the ugly uniform wouldn't fit now if I tried! If it did, I might just wear it only because it fit! lol
Anyways...the saying I most remember while I was in Texas was " If you don't like the weather, wait a minute..." everyone said that there and well, they were right, the weather was constantly changing! Have fun guys. Love you lots, going to bed now. See, you asked me to comment and now I won't shut up! You may want to not ask me to comment again...lol...love you...goodnight!

Hi Travelers!! Gosh, no blog today =:( OK, so I can't expect one EVERY day!! But we continue to follow your travels and love hearing and seeing what you are doing. Yesterday was a "quiet" day at home with Jana, Tim and the family over for a swim and then Doug, Sue and the kids stopped by for a while to cool off later. It has been over 100 for the last few days and everyone wants to hit the pool! Think I told you we got the boat out on Saturday, and it went great. No more stalls or cutting out!! Today, it's back to the office for mom and I'm trying to complete all the info needed for my mom's project. Let's try to connect by phone tonite. Love you guys, Pop
